Grounds / Environmental
Goal
To work with parents, teachers, the community and the Round Rock School District to improve the appearance of school grounds and create an environment that is safe and promotes the learning process.
Job Questionnaire

Detailed Responsibilities
Environmental Chair
Weekly Maintenance
- Sweep walkways (especially near red-top and Mikey's playyard/cafeteria)
- Remove trash
- Inspect grounds for safety issues, vandalism
Seasonal
- Trim hedges, smaller trees and plants
- Cut back overgrowth (especially around walkways)
- Repair fences, railings
- Help out with Earth Day plantings in late April
Teacher/Classroom Projects
- Help with planning
- Purchase and deliver materials
- Assist with installation, planting
Non-Responsibilities (Handled by District)
- Mowing grass
- Major tree trimming
- Sprinkler maintenance
Challenges
- Maintenance/upkeep of past projects (lots of great projects in the past but few that have been maintained!)
- Finding self-contained projects that aren't dependent on other funds or actions from district
Resources
- Groundskeeping folder in PTA workroom has details on past projects
- Bill Early (5th Grade Teacher leading Green Lions)
- Eagle Scouts for new projects (responsible for many past projects)
